We don’t know about you, but finding the right rug can be an emotional rollercoaster. One moment you’re giddy with excitement and planning for the future, and the next you’re bitter with disdain and running for the hills. Not to mention the fear of commitment. What if you fall out of love? What if it doesn’t age well? What if it starts to lose its hair after a couple years?! We can definitely attest to this happening once or twice. But fear not, for we have scoured the internet for the most eligible rugs out there. Oh, and the best part? They’re all under $500, so you don’t have to decide on forever just yet.

Scroll through for 10 rugs that we just can’t wait to bring home to mom here!

1. Southwestern Rugs:

Shop: Mohave Area Rug – Threshold, Target, $169.99 / Photo: Rue Magazine

Shop: Cotto Marbella Belini Area Rug by Brayden Studio, Wayfair, $498.85

We know that these rugs aren’t necessarily top of mind when we hear “southwestern,” but we’re really into the bold colors and imperfect designs of the above options. Great for everything from a kids space to an adult bedroom, these rugs pack a playful punch and will grow with you over time.

2. Natural Fiber Rugs:

Shop: Braided Jute Rug, Ballard Designs, $39 – $449 / Photo: Amber Interiors

Shop: Oden Rug, Pottery Barn, $59 – $499

If you’re currently coveting that California-cool vibe that’s so hot right now, then a sisal or jute rug is just for you. And since they’re so inexpensive, you’ll have plenty of funds to complete the look with beechwood accents and Shibori textiles.

3. Geometric Rugs:

Shop: Brook Rug, Target, on sale for $254.09 – $470.39 / Photo: Emily Henderson

Shop: Semi Scallop Rug, The Land of Nod, $84.16 – $254.15

These rugs are putting us into a deep, deep trance that we’re pretty content with never coming out of. Forget the standard diamond pattern that you’ve seen everywhere (or even inside your own home) and try a shape that’s a bit more fresh, like this half-circle color gradient or a repeating triangle design.

4. Hide Rugs:

Shop: Natural Cowhide Rug by Deco Hides, Wayfair, $309.99 / Photo: MyDomaine

Shop: Tucson Ivory Area Rug by Bashian Rugs, Wayfair, $428.99

Though a cowhide might sound seasonally inappropriate right now, they’re great for achieving that boho look inside your living room year-round. And if your style is a bit more on the glam side, this handwoven ivory option will add that sparkle you’re going for.

5. Antique-inspired Rugs:

Shop: nuLOOM Vintage Panel Ramonita Area Rug, Target, $202.99 / Photo: Loloi Rugs

Shop: Miara Dark Gray Area Rug by World Menagerie, Wayfair, $107.99

Since we all don’t have the time to peruse swap meets and souks for a perfectly aged rug, the next best thing can be found online. These rugs offer that worn-out look of an antique rug and add a sense of history to any space.
